Know Your Risks,
Know Your Options.
Your sexual health is important. Access to accurate HIV education and decreasing stigma is imperative in our efforts in the HIV epidemic. What’s At Stake
The HIV epidemic has a disproportionate impact on specific populations, including young people. In 2021, individuals aged 13 to 34 accounted for over half of all new HIV diagnoses in the United States. With low rates of condom use, high rates of substance use, and involvement with multiple sexual partners, individuals aged 15 to 24 are responsible for nearly 50% of the 26 million sexually transmitted infections (STIs) contracted annually in the United States.
Learn More About The RisksPrEP − Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis
PrEP is a daily pill that can help you stay HIV-negative. The medicines in PrEP are the same as those taken by people with HIV to stay healthy, and can protect you before you might be exposed to HIV to help prevent it.
PEP − Post-Exposure Prophylaxis
PEP is an emergency medication for people who are HIV-negative and may have been exposed to HIV. If you think you were exposed to HIV, go immediately to a clinic or emergency room, and ask for PEP.
U=U means
“Undetectable equals Untransmittable.”
More specifically, it means that people living with HIV who have an undetectable level of virus in their blood due to treatment are unable to transmit the virus to others. The U=U campaign hopes to spread awareness that medications for HIV are extremely effective.
Doxy-PEP
Doxy-PEP is a sexual health tool that involves taking the antibiotic doxycycline after sex, to prevent getting an STI. It is like a morning-after pill but for STIs. Taking doxy-PEP reduces your chance of acquiring syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia by about two-thirds.
