Bulgari sponsored the exclusive cocktail that took place October 12 at the Getty Images Gallery, London to announce The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF) partnering with other organizations to achieve the UNAIDS 909090 target in Malawi’s Mulanje District. The initiative has the goal of fasttracking the end of AIDS by 2030. The event was cohosted by actor and ETAF Ambassador Colin Farrell. Singer/songwriter and UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador Annie Lennox closed the program of the cocktail. The Getty Images Gallery also holds the major 50piece photographic exhibition titled ‘Grit and Glamour’, inaugurated on October 9 th and running until November 7 th to mark 30 years since the unforgettable actress began her commitment to fighting AIDS. ‘Grit and Glamour’ is scheduled to tour globally with sales of the special limited edition prints benefitting The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. The pictures’ selection includes an iconic portrait shot in 1964 when Elizabeth Taylor married Richard Burton in Montreal: the only jewel worn by the actress was the Bulgari emerald and diamonds brooch Burton gave her in Rome, when the couple fell in love on the set of Cleopatra. During the filming, the Bulgari store in Via Condotti was the favorite hideout of the couple to escape paparazzi, thus setting off her lifelong, intense relationship with the Brand. A discerning jewelry connoisseur, when picking out a oneofakind piece she always combined a sophisticated sense of aesthetics with considerable expertise. By sponsoring the event, Bulgari wanted to commemorate one of the Maison’s most cherished patrons, a charismatic woman and talented actress who put the same tireless passion both in the movie sets and in her fierce humanitarian activism.
